Durham Rocks Charity FunSpiel Community Events

9:15 AM

The 2nd annual Durham Rocks Charity FunSpiel  is facilitated by the Durham Children's Aid Foundation and the proceeds raised through this fantastic event will help support our most vulnerable children in Durham region- those affiliated with the Durham Children's Aid Society.

The theme for our FunSpiel is "Canadiana" and there will be prizes awarded for the best dressed.

Participants will play two sheets of ice and will receive lunch, dinner and live entertainment.

People who are ages 55 to 74 and have smoked cigarettes daily for at least 20 years (not necessarily consecutive) may be eligible for Cancer Care Ontario's Lung Cancer Screening Pilot for People at High Risk.

If you meet these criteria, please contact Lakeridge Health Oshawa at 905-576-8711 x4449 for information or to schedule a telephone assessment to determine your eligibility. Eligible participants will be offered screening using a low-dose CT scan of the chest along with smoking cessation services.

Durham College Program Information Night Community Events

Attendees will have the opportunity to take part in interactive sessions to get the scoop on a selection of unique DC programs directly from students and professors. They can also get tips about the admission process, how to pay for college and much more!

Introduction to Embroidery Workshop Community Events

1:00 PM| 16210 Island Road, Port Perry, ON

This workshop will offer participants an introduction to the basic stitches for embroidery.  All participants will create a floral wreath sampler to take home.  All of the necessary supplies will be provided.  The workshop will take place at the Schoolhouse at the Scugog Shores Museum Village, 16210 Island Road, Port Perry, starting at 1 pm.  Registration is $30/person or $50 for two people.  Pre-registration is required.  Please call 905-985-8698 x 103 or email museum@scugog.ca to register.

Family Day: Passport to Fun! Community Events

10:00 AM| 1655 Reach St. (Scugog Arena)

Join us for bigger and better Family Day Fun this year all in support of Jumpstart! We have taken over the entire arena this year for more activities, more space and more for Scugog Families to enjoy.

This is a free event collecting donations for Jumpstart that goes right back in to our community here in Scugog.

Start your day in the community centre by picking up your passport to fun. Fill your passport with stamps from each activity station and if you get them all, be entered for a chance to win a FREE week of summer camp or five free swim lessons at Birdseye Pool!

What to expect?
- Enjoy jumping castles and inflatables
- Meet princesses and the paw patrol team
- Get your face painted and make some crafts
- Chow down on some cotton candy and popcorn (purchase required)
- Hang out in the YMCA Tot Spot
- Visit local community booths including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Canadian Tire Jumpstart, Sportball GTA, The Lookout Youth Centre and more!
- Go public skating for FREE thanks to our sponsor Canadian Tire Port Perry
- Play some games with our recreation leaders

Come out to meet and discuss issues with Regional Chair, John Henry and Mayor, Bobbie Drew on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 12:30 to 2 pm. There will also be representatives from Durham Region Police Services and Durham Region Transit at the Meet & Greet event.

The session will be held at the Scugog Community Recreation Centre (1655 Reach St., Port Perry) in the Meeting Room across from Ice Pad 2.

Port Perry Legion is hosting a Roast Beef supper, this Friday February 22nd, at 6:30 PM.  

Supper includes delicious Roast Beef prepared by Herringtons Butcher Shop in Port Perry, accompanied by potatoes, veg, gravy, roll and butter.  Finished of course, with a great piece of pie!
