The 51st Annual Canoe the Nonquon took place on Saturday, June 1 in Port Perry. The race is sanctioned by the Ontario Marathon Canoe and Kayak Racing Association (OMCKRA). The race was started in 1969 by the Lake Scugog Historical Society as a fundraiser for the Scugog Shores Museums. Over 40 volunteers help plan and organize the race each year.
We could not hold this race without the following sponsors: Brock's, Practicar, Vos' Inependent, Signworks, Kawartha Outfitters and the Port Perry Marina. Thank you to the Port Perry Smokehouse for providing $5 off coupons to all our participants. Thank you to the many local businesses who donated gift items for our silent auction. Finally, thank you to all the volunteers who donate their time to help with the race each year.
The 2019 race times for all participants are posted as a pdf attachment to the right.
See everyone for the 52nd annual Canoe the Nonquon on Saturday, June 6, 2020!

North House is a not-for-profit organization that works in all three North Durham townships of Scugog, Brock and Uxbridge to improve the lives of those in our community. North House provides a spectrum of housing supports for those who are at risk or in crisis within these communities through programs such as; homelessness prevention outreach, rental subsidies, seasonal tax preparations, as well as, landlord and tenant relations.
On June 6, 2019, join us for our 15th Anniversary Celebration. We will be hosting approximately 150 individuals with a dinner, silent auction, and evening of fun called Hope for Homes. This will be an exciting evening of laughter, connection and coming together to support one of the most important causes of our society today, housing instability. Proceeds will go towards our current programming, servicing even more at risk households, and funding new, innovative initiatives to address the issues of those we service.
