Traditionally held the first Saturday of June, the annual Canoe the Nonquon has been cancelled for 2021.

Due to the current provincial restrictions, we will not be able to proceed with the 52nd annual Canoe the Nonquon.  In celebration of June is Recreation and Parks Month, we encourage Scugog families to get active outdoors and paddle #NonquonYourWay in early June.  While the water is high, get out and explore all our river and community has to offer.  

Snap a photo while you are on the river to submit for our #JRPMScugog photo contest!

To enter the contest:

• Post a photo or story on Instagram or Facebook of you paddling the Nonquon River
• Tag us @TwpofScugog (Instagram) @TownshipofScugog (Facebook) @ScugogMuseum (Facebook)
• Include the hashtag #JRPMScugog, #CanoetheNonquon or #NonquonYourWay
• Ensure your account is public so that we can enter you into the contest.

At the end of the month, 1 lucky winner will be randomly selected to receive 5 free swimming lessons.

Practice water safety!  Canadian Government Regulations require the following in every vessel:

• Appropriately sized, Canadian approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD) for each person in the craft.
• Sound signaling device (pea less whistle)
• 15m (50’) of buoyant rope
• Manual bailer
