Best known for his Toronto Star series Birdseye Centre, Jimmie Frise was born and raised on Scugog Island before rising to cartoon fame from the 1920’s – 1940’s. View a selection of works by famous cartoonist, Jimmie Frise, featuring the newly restored painting The Last Muskie. “The Lake Scugog Historical Society is pleased to have sponsored the recent restoration of this very large watercolour & ink painting by our own renowned cartoonist Jimmie Frise. Scugog Shores Museum has one of the largest collections of Frise paintings and artwork in Ontario and we look forward to seeing this piece displayed for all to see”, states LSHS president Marilyn Pearce.

Port Perry Service HUB Community Events

10:00 AM| 294 Queen St, Port Perry

North House and the Region of Durham have partnered together to bring a service hub to Port Perry. The HUB aims to remove transportation and technology barriers for low-income residents of Scugog by bringing social service supports to one location, one day per month. Services include: OW/ODSP, employment services, mental health and addiction services, housing and addictions services, senior and family services, and harm reduction services. The HUB will be at Port Perry United Church every first Wednesday of each month. If you have questions about the HUB, please email ppservicehub@nortthhouse.ca

North Durham Community Day - Port Perry Fairgrounds Community Events

Durham Regional Police is hosting a North Durham Community Day at the Port Perry Fairgrounds. The event will feature specialty units from Durham Police, as well as Scugog and Brock Fire. There will be a hot dog BBQ, kids facepainting, jumping/slide dragon and infatable games. The event is free to the community. We will be accepting non parishable food items to "Cram-A-Cruiser" for local food banks, so please help us out with that.

Driftwood Theatre Bard's Bus Tour Scugog Shores Museums

The award winning Driftwood Theatre returns to the village to present their outdoor 'pay-what-you-can' theatre event. Driftwood is Ontario's leading outdoor summer touring company. The company strives to break down barriers to experiencing and participating in theatre art, by bringing theatre and engagement opportunities to audiences in Ontario who may not have access to professional performance. They have performed for over 100,000 people in venues across the province since 1995. 

This year the Bard's Bus Tour is presenting King Henry FiveKing Henry Five celebrates Driftwood Theatre’s return to live performance after a three year hiatus. An ambitious adaptation of three Shakespeare plays (Henry IV pts 1 & 2Henry V), King Henry Five is a powerful story about community, the families we inherit and those we choose, and the legacies we leave behind.

Set against the backdrop of a contemporary patio bar and featuring Driftwood’s signature blend of music, puppetry and Shakespeare’s captivating poetry, King Henry Five rolls into outdoor community spaces across Ontario this summer.

The performance begins at 7:30pm outdoors at the Scugog Shores Museum Village.

Scugog Heritage Day Scugog Shores Museums

See the village come to life to the sounds of the blacksmith, printing press, looms, and more.

Scugog Heritage Day will take place on Sunday, August 21st, 2022, and run from 11:00am until 4:00pm.

Join us at the Scugog Shores Museum Village to celebrate the heritage of Scugog! Visitors will be treated to heritage demonstrations such as blacksmithing, spinning and weaving, and operation of a printing press. Explore the museum’s twelve historic buildings and Ojibway Heritage Interpretive Lands to experience how the settlers and Indigenous peoples of Scugog lived in the 19th century. The young and young-at-heart can take part in crafts, games, and discovery stations throughout the village.

Special Event Admission as follows:
Adults: $7 incl. tax
Seniors and Students: $6 incl. tax
Children 5-12: $3 incl. tax
Children Under 5: Free
