Comedy Night Presented by Cartwright Sports & Recreation Community Events

Cartwright Sports & Recreation presents Yuk Yuks Comedy Night on February 7, 2020 from 8 to 10 pm at the Blackstock Recreation Centre (3440 Church St., Blackstock).

Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door - doors open at 7:30 pm. This is a 19+ event with a cash bar.

Design Workshop for the Waterfront Action Plan Community Events

1:00 PM

The Township is inviting residents to Workshop #2 for the Waterfront Action Plan, where a presentation will be given providing an overview of the project and then you will have an opportunity to work with a member of the design team to prepare diagrams that explore options for the waterfront: for example, expansion to the marina, sports fields, location for a seniors centre, more trails, an urban square, parking and environmental enhancement.

There will be 3 sessions held on February 13, 2020 at the Township Council Chambers at 1:00-3:00 pm, 3:30-5:30 pm and 6:30-8:30 pm. Each session is open to 40 people. Click here to register for one of the sessions if you are interested in attending.

Family Day: Passport to Fun! Community Events

Join us for Family Day Fun this year all in support of Jumpstart! This is a free event collecting donations for Jumpstart that goes right back into our community here in Scugog.

Start your day in the community centre by picking up your passport to fun. Fill your passport with stamps from each activity station and if you get them all, be entered for a chance to win a FREE week of summer camp or five free swim lessons at Birdseye Pool!

What to expect?
- Enjoy jumping castles and inflatables
- Get your face painted and make some crafts
- Chow down on some cotton candy and popcorn (purchase required)
- Hang out in the YMCA Tot Spot
- Try some active program demos
- Go public skating for FREE thanks to our sponsor Canadian Tire Port Perry
- Play some games with our recreation leaders

Winter Wetland Snowshoe Adventure Community Events

9:00 AM| Pheasant Pen classroom site of the Nonquon Environmental Education Centre, 19745 Old Simcoe Rd. Greenbank, ON.

Saturday Feb. 22 2020: “Winter Wetland Snowshoe Adventure” 9 am to Noon.  Join North Durham Nature and The Friends of Nonquon and explore the wetlands of the Nonquon Provincial Wildlife area with knowledgeable guides, wearing a pair of our snowshoes (weather permitting). The winter provides an opportunity to see animal tracks, to get close to the beaver and muskrat’s lodges and to feed the chickadees, seed provided! Long and short hike options available.  Event is open to all ages.  Meet at the Pheasant Pen classroom site of the Nonquon Environmental Education Centre, 19745 Old Simcoe Rd. Winter Wetland Snowshoe Adventure Community Events

Join North Durham Nature and the Friends of Nonquon for a winter wetland snowshoe adventure!  Explore the wetlands of the Nonquon Provincial Wildlife area wearing a pair of our snowshoes (weather permitting).  The picturesque winterscape provides many opportunities to see a variety of animal tracks in the snow, to get close to the beaver and muskrat's lodges, to view wildlife and to feed the chickadees (seed provided)!  Knowledgeable guides will share with you the wonders of this beautiful and unique area and answer your questions.  Both short and long hike options are available, as this event is open to all ages.  End your guided hike with a warm beverage.  

Please meet at the Pheasant Pen Classroom Site of the Nonquon Environmental Education Centre (19745 Old Simcoe Road, Greenbank, ON), on the East side of the street, 1 km North of Scugog LIne 10.  About 5 km North of Port Perry.  The event is free of charge, but donations are welcomed.

February 25th 2020, North Durham Nature presents: “Madagascar, Not the Disney Version”. 7 pm, Scugog Memorial Library, 231 Water Street, Port Perry.  The island of Madagascar contains a myriad of spectacular life forms found nowhere else on earth.  Learn about the lemur, giant chameleons, multicoloured birds and strange trees that make up this unique area.  Past President of Ontario Nature, avid conservationist and well-travelled amateur naturalist, Otto Peter, will share his wildlife encounters and images from some of Madagascar’s hot spots.
